old Russian soldier with a slouch hat and a long coat, was said to have roamed the area. He sometimes frightened young couples, or children who misbehaved were threatened with having to deal with Michele Witsch. <\/p><p>On 18 July 1842, happily intoxicated with wine and beer, the contract was sealed at the regular\u2019s table of the old Zum Kreuz inn in Ebersweier.<\/p><p>Landowner Sebastian Huber (now Andreas Laible Winery) granted brewer Hornung from Kehl the right to build a rock cellar. The rock cellar was ideally suited for storing ice. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-64696e3 elementor-widget__width-initial ha-has-bg-overlay elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"64696e3\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p align=\"left\">The ice cellar was used until the end of the 1920s. Ice was harvested in winter from the B\u00fchlmatt meadow, the millrace, and the irrigation ditches. Karl Behr, innkeeper of the &#8220;Bad Staufenberg,&#8221; stored his brewed beer there and sold the refreshing brew in front of the &#8220;beer cellar&#8221; during the summer months.  <\/p><p
