The B\u00fchlmatt weir is of essential importance for the Durbach as a body of water. Here, the approximately 1.80m high drop in water slows down the originally fast-flowing body of water somewhat. The high water levels, especially during heavy rainfall and snowmelt, have deeply eroded some areas of the stream in past centuries, particularly between the town center of Durbach and the lower village.<\/p>

The original settling trap in the stream was an important technical installation for the mill stream, which ran across B\u00fchlmatte along Plauelrain through the former four mills and simultaneously irrigated the B\u00fchlmatten on one side and the meadows below the “Alm” on the other. In winter, ice was also broken up on the B\u00fchlmatte, which was stored in the “beer cellar” and provided cool drinks, especially freshly brewed beer, well into the summer.<\/p>

The historical image below shows a large “setting trap” in the stream, the exact location of which unfortunately can no longer be determined. There were originally several such traps along the Durbach stream. For example, a large settling trap was also located in Unterweiler opposite the former oil mill to supply the Weilerm\u00fchle. The weir was neglected and is now left to decay, as the mill stream is no longer in operation. In the past, this weir was often the cause of complaints from residents because the miller of the Weilerm\u00fchle Streif mill did not always raise the weir in time during floods, resulting in flooding.<\/p>

The millrace from Unterweiler to Weilerm\u00fchle was largely culverted due to the adjacent development, but still exists as a separate property.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
